CQ Press Selects RSuite CMS for its Directories Content

Audubon, Pa.—January 25, 2007—CQ Press, a Washington D.C.-based publisher of government and public policy information, selected RSuite CMS to replace its current directory content management system. Over the past year, CQ Press has added new directory content, acquired other directory publications, and made plans for creating new products. The current system was not scalable to support these efforts, and after a thorough analysis of different options, CQ Press selected RSuite CMS to be the base of its new directory content management system.

As part of the new system, CQ Press is changing its editorial approach to be topic based rather than product based. RSuite CMS is engineered to support and manage XML content at user-defined node levels, which perfectly complements CQ Press' shift in editorial management. Additionally, RSuite CMS makes it easy for CQ Press to roll out new derivative products in response to market demands.

"We conducted an in-depth analysis of CMS options," stated Tracey Ryan, business analyst at CQ Press. "We decided to use RSuite CMS because it provides tools specifically for publishers and enables us to take full advantage of our XML by storing it in an XML-based repository."

"We built RSuite CMS as a browser-based CMS that could handle complex XML," explained Michael Puscar, director of technology solutions at Really Strategies, Inc. and lead developer of RSuite CMS. "Using the RSuite CMS API, CQ Press enhanced their existing editorial system with a customized user interface, more scaleable search infrastructure, and a versioning and re-use model that allows them to manage content at the element level."
